I found this really awesome tribute to the dedication of Qwest folk at another site and wanted to share:
"I just read this following paragraph in an email sent out to Qwest employees about our network in the wake of the recent storms here, and in Denver. was interesting. these people are dedicated if this is true.
"Over the past several weeks, employees working in storm-struck areas have had many occasions to go to the max for customers. In fact, one of the most dramatic depictions of the Spirit of Service occurred in November, when a mudslide on Mount Rainier wiped out several telephone poles, isolating Crystal Mountain and Greenwater, Wash., from 9-1-1 service. Eight feet of water on the only road prevented vehicle access. But instead of waiting for waters to recede, Qwest crew members threw a fiber-optic line over their shoulders and hiked through the woods, pulling almost a mile of cable by hand. They restored 9-1-1 service within 12 hours."
