That'll put a damper on Crystal today till whenever. Hopefully this storm will pass quickly...

As of 10am, there is about 1 foot of water over the roadway on 410 approx. 1/2 mile west of "dead mans curve". The State Patrol has one unit there and told me you can cross at this time at your own risk. But about another mile to the west of there water is running over the roadway and there is the potential for the road to washout at this location in the very near future. The Patrol officer says WSDOT will not do anything until there is a washout of this location...road could be out for days if this occurs. I then drove to the Mud Mtn Dam Road where there are more State Patrol officers blocking and monitering 410 coming up the hill there. They are not letting vehicles go eastward from Mud Mtn unless they are local residence, but this will change as road conditions change.

Thanks for the info. This will help me determine if I will get a chance to work at Crystal this weekend or not.

My bro just told me that some of the roads in CRR are small creeks at the moment. Hopefully this weather will subside soon. I'd hate to see that much water on the road, then freezing temps then a dump of snow. That would be devastating.

Hwy 410 now additionally closed in the Federation Forest due to another landslide....just a few hundred feet west of the former mudslide from November. Not as large as the former landslide, but still significant.

Crystal is closed again today. Looking at running on Friday.

Seems like there are a lot of runoff creeks running through the Fed Forest. Over this last season, so far, you can see significant water running at any given time. Its only a matter of time before more slides happen.

AH, thanks for the update!

The state Department of Transportation plans to reopen SR 410 between Enumclaw and Greenwater at 6 p.m. today. Water and mudslides had closed the highway between mileposts 29 and 57. Crews have cleared debris, but drivers should use caution.

Just came up 410 into CRR. Road was pretty much clear.

Some areas to note:

Road is clear up to MP39, then some mud on the road. Seemed a bit slick, so take caution.

The snow line appeared around MP40. No snow on the road.

Mud again at MP41, this time the road was a bit more covered for about a half mile. Again, take caution.

Freezing rain started at MP41, continued to CRR.

Slush started to accumulate just before the speed change out of GW. Didn't seem like ice at this point.

Roads in CRR seemed fair. Soft pack/patchy in areas, not too icy yet.

If the freezing rain continues all night, I'm guessing roads will be pretty slick by morning.

All in all the roads seem very clear, thanks to all the hard work by the DOT and the residence of CRR. I'm guessing the mud on the roads will dissipate pretty quickly with the traffic heading to Crystal in the morning.
