We're planning to head up tomorrow to check up on the family cabin after all the recent weather events. Are they letting residents up from Enumclaw? If so, is there some sort of proof I should bring with us to show troopers/DOT?
Many thanks.

We got through last night. Technically, the road is closed. You are travelling at your own risk. Good luck. There are 4 slides but one lane was open.
Puget Power told me they will not be going in to work on getting the power back up until the road is officially open.

From what my brother just told me, you must have proof that you live there, or have a place to stay if you work in GW or Crystal. Apparently there is one section of road under a foot of water, one small section that washed out and numerous small slides and waterfalls now.
Take caution when traveling up that way, and turn around if too dicey to pass through.

thanks kindly for your responses and very useful info. we heard from friends who made it up there today and swung by for a visual on our place. Luckily the trees and their parts stayed put or went wide.
Sounds like we may be waiting for the all clear although some touring in the area might be fun, after checking in with patrol of course. :)
We've got a high clearance 4WD with AT tires but bummer on the power, that may be the deciding factor to stay away.
Thanks again.

Power came on around 10 pm. Friday evening. Telephone service also is up and running.

Thanks for the updates!
Gary, or anyone at CRR, how long was the power off and what has the daytime temps been? I'm wondering if the stuff in my freezer is trashed...

I think this last one was about 24 hours. It should be okay. You got lucky on your driveway and it didn't wash out like some of ours did on Mountainside. The elk are out front waiting for dinner!!

Thanks Gary!
I was wondering about the wash outs. I hope your driveway is at least passable! Did the county clean out the culverts?
How did the White and the West fork do during the flooding? Any major problems at CRR or the bridge??

All the driveways of people that live here permanently are passable, I think. They (Pierce County) spent all day working on those. They are going to have to bring up several loads of gravel and culverts in the near future to repair most driveways. No other major damage to anything to my knowledge.
Many thanks to the volunteers of the Greenwater Fire Department, Jim Hart and L.J. Lawrence and everyone else for all their help and concerns at the peak of the problems!!

Yikes It sounds like it was and still is a horrid mess!
When did the county start to to empty the culverts?

[QUOTE=gbhag;1783] No other major damage to anything to my knowledge.
Except for the 2 feet of water that collected in and around our cabin.
Thanks to the CRR neighbors (including Jim, neighbor Pat and others) who helped and offered hot coffee, food and a place to warm up while we worked to clean up the mess with no power. You are great neighbors!

The county basically did nothing to the culverts. They couldn't get up here when we needed them, so the locals and the fire department volunteers did all the work.

Even though I don't live in CRR or Greenwater, thank you guys so much for all the hard work to get everything cleaned up and running once again. I know some residents in CRR and they are much appreciative of your hard work!
