TUMWATER, Wash. --
The state Health Department is holding a public hearing Tuesday on the proposed rules to implement the assisted suicide law.
Since voters approved the Death With Dignity Act in November the department has been working on policies and procedures for patients, druggists and doctors.
The new law takes effect March 5. Washington will become the second state after Oregon to allow doctors to prescribe drugs for terminally ill patients to end their lives.
