The plan:

Head to Flaming Geyser after work to fish

The objective:

Steelhead

The result:

36" Native, released after picture. Caught on 10 pound main line, 8 pound leader. Sandshrimp.

Yeah, that fish was a beauty! Took about 15 minutes to reel in.

Heading back tonight to see if I can catch it again.

How do you tell if a fish is native?

The fin on the left side of the fish just above the tail. Called the adipose fin. If it is still intact, its wild. If it has a small scar where it should be
its a hatchery. They clip them as smolt.

Thanks I didn’t know that. How deep is the water? In the photo it looks like its only about a foot deep…

You’ve inspired me to get out my fishing gear ! !

We swung 90 degrees for the picture. The hole is off of my left arm.

Keep the gear stowed for now. The season on the Green ended on Feb. 28th, and begins on June 1st.

The good news for next season is: The Pink Salmon are running in September, so there will be 3 types of salmon in the Carbon, Puyallup and the Green: Kings, Silvers and Humpies.
