Washington State Parks voted Oct. 1 to double the price of Sno-Park day passes.

Sno-Park passes will be $20 this season and will be required for each vehicle.

A season pass will be $40 and the special groomed trail permit will be an additional $40. Each of these passes were $30 last season.

“The reason for the increase is to encourage people to buy an annual pass,” State Parks spokeswoman Linda Burnett said on Sept. 3.

Passes go on sale Nov. 1.

You can learn more about the Sno-Park program, find the location of Sno-Parks across the state and find locations where you can purchase a pass at www.parks.wa.gov/winter.

Ok, let us get this right. Some people purchase the day pass because their income only will allow them to purchase the 1-day pass. So lets DOUBLE the former price in hopes that they will purchase the seasonal pass, WHICH ALSO WENT UP $10, during an economic recession, when many have lost their jobs or have had their job hours cut? Got to love our elected officials...Oh...I forgot...their still employed and getting paid! :(

Or just pay your tabs on your smelly snow machine and get one for free. $80 if you want to muscle power it. Glad I got a snowmobile for backcountry skiing... :D
