The public is invited to submit comments by May 16 on four proposed plans for commercial air tour operations over Mount Rainier National Park. The alternatives include banning air tours; limiting tours to the current number of allowed flights, 114 per year; limiting the number of flights to the number actually flown in 2010, 55; or limiting flights to an alternative route, with restrictions according to season and time of day.

For details of the plans, or to comment, go to: http://parkplanning.nps.gov/MORA—ATMP.

The rules don't apply to military flights or general aviation aircraft. They do apply to commercial flights below 5,000 feet conducted for sightseeing.

Public meetings also will be held, including one in Seattle on April 26, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mountaineers Building, Goodman Auditorium, 7700 Sand Point Way N.E., Seattle. Copies of the plans also are available for review at the Seattle Central Library.

Public comments also may be submitted at the meeting.
