See or smell smoke from Hwy 410 Greenwater area for about 10 days? Likely source is the Elk Forage burn project the Forest Service is doing.
Controlled Burn Creates Elk Forage
Smoke Visible From Greenwater, SR 410
Greenwater residents and travelers on Scenic Route 410 will see smoke beginning 11/5/11 from a controlled burn on the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Fire management teams will burn piles of understory plants creating forage openings in elk winter rangeland as part of the Greenwater elk forage management project. The burning operation is located at T19N, R10E, Sections 19, 21, 23 and 31 and will take approximately 10 days.
