The Tacoma Branch of The Mountaineers has scheduled six trail maintenance work parties at Mount Rainier National Park this year.
The park’s small trail maintenance crew relies heavily on volunteers to maintain the miles of hiking trails within the park, said organizer Steven Hagoski. That’s especially true this year following the damage done by the floods in November.
Trail work-party dates are May 20, June 2, July 15, Aug. 18, Sept. 16, and Oct. 6. Exact times and location will be determined before each event.
Participants should bring work gloves, hiking or work boots, food and water for the day, rain gear, extra clothing and backpack. All tools are provided by the park trail crew.
Register with Steven Hagoski at 253-428-8175 or shagoski@msn.com.
