If you have ever wanted to get out more to experience the beauty of our region or if you need a little guidance about proper clothing and footwear, packs, where to go, safety essentials, encountering animals and trail etiquette, an upcoming course might be for you.
The Great Peninsula Conservancy’s Introduction to Day Hiking course on May 9 is for anyone who wants to venture beyond a stroll around the park. The course will include a two-hour classroom session and two field trips. One trip will be a moderate hike within the county, and the other a bit more ambitious hike in the Olympics.
Cost is a $35 Conservancy membership, plus a $5 materials fee. It is free to members, except for the $5 fee.
