This is a good idea but should be required for all hunters.
Registration is open for a hunter education course that begins June 11.
If you intend to hunt in Washington this season and were born after Jan. 1, 1972, you must complete a free state hunter education course and receive a certificate in order to buy a hunting license.
The class will be June 11-13 and 15-16 at the American Legion Hall, 7515 Cirque Drive W., University Place. The June 16 field and range class will be at the Tacoma Rifle and Revolver Club, 8503 Chambers Creek Road W., University Place.
Reservations are required. To register or for information, contact Bob Brown at 253-582-2726 or Jaeger6@qwest.net.
Although the course is free, a $25 deposit is required to reserve a spot. This is refundable at the end of the course. The deposit is required so that no-shows do not take up the limited available spaces.
