View Full Version : Car camp on the road to Sunrise, Mt. Rainier
Do any of you have a suggestion for a quiet place to park my pickup(with a bed inside the canopy) so I can get an early start hiking at Sunrise in the morning? Preferably closer to Sunrise than Enumclaw and only a couple-three miles off 410. Thanks, Dale

Welcome to the forum!
There are several good locations. Here are two examples: One is in a State Park, and one is an informal camping area off a Forest Service road. The park is called Silver Springs (http://www.recreation.gov/campgroundDetails.do?subTabIndex=0&agency=nrrs&parkCode=sils). Silver Springs is only a couple of miles from the north park entrance on SR-410. They offer many camping sites and other facilities typical for an overnight camping ground.
One of the closest roads is USFS-73, which I think is at about mile post 52. USFS-73 is about 8-10 miles from the north park entrance. USFS-73 is a long winding gravel road that offers many informal camp sites. Several of these sites are situated right next to Huckleberry creek. None of the sites along this road have a water supply, rest rooms, or other facilities typical of camping sites.
There are many other locations in the area. You can drive onto most roads in the area and find a secluded spot
Have a great trip!
