About a month ago, a friend from work and his kids and I hiked to Echo from the top of Corral Pass. The hike in was enjoyable, downhill all the way. Stopped off at Hidden Lake for a quick snack and replenish, then on the trail to Echo.
Trail was very clean and well used. Well taken care of as well. Hiked to the North end and camped at the outlet. Small rainbow trout were jumping EVERYWHERE on that lake, so we figured the outlet would have some good ones; and there were. First couple of casts yielded eight inchers, then smaller from then on.
After some star watching, the sleeping bag was sounding mighty fine.
Next morning was a quick breakfast then all loaded for the 5 mile uphill walk. The trail isn't that hard, but is sustained uphill for the last couple of miles.
All in all a fun trip. Next time will come in from the Rd. 70 side and hike out to Corral...
