The National Park Inn at Longmire will reopen for guests Saturday, having been closed since floods Nov. 6-7 shut down Mount Rainier National Park.
Mount Rainier Guest Services, which runs the inn, said it will be open daily through Jan. 1, and then on Fridays and Saturdays until road repairs are completed and the park is open to vehicle traffic.

Guests will have to park in Ashford and take a shuttle to the 25-room hotel.

The inn is a focal point for activities, including hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Snowshoes and cross-country ski equipment rentals are available at the Longmire General Store.

In addition, an interpretive program explaining the November flood causes, effects, and recovery efforts will be offered to overnight guests on Saturday afternoons at the Longmire Community Building.

The road to Paradise, the location of the winter snow play area, will not be accessible due to damage to the roadway caused by the floods.

For reservations or information, call 360-569-2275 or visit rainier. guestservices.com.
