One of the key goals in starting Explore-Greenwater.com was to serve as an aid to the community. In pursuit of that goal, we are happy to have the Greenwater Fire Department as one of our forums!

The aim of this forum is to help aid communication between the Fire Department and the community, and to help a wider group gain knowledge of several very important roles that the Fire Department serves, and also to help present several ways available to us that may help save a life or a home.

I'd like to know if, in order to serve as an EMT in Greenwater, one also has to be an active member of the Fire Department. I'd like to get hooked up--I EMT here in Kitsap Cty and I'm working on relocating to Greenwater/Enumclaw. I just don't fight fires. Any idea??

Yes, we do have some members that choose to focus predominantly on the medical side of things. As a volunteer department, I try to be as flexible as possible about taking people at whatever level of participation that they are able to offer. Most of our responses are medical. In addition to EMS and structural firefighting, we also provide training in wildland firefighting, vehicle extrication and rope rescue. Our drill night is Tuesday at 7 pm. EMS night is the 4th Tuesday of the month. Drop by, and see what you think. Paul
