Rita M. Smith Rita M. (Thunes) Smith "Mountain Woman" of Greenwater died Dec. 27, 2007 at the age of 56. She was born June 11, 1951 in Tacoma, WA. Rita enjoyed hunting, hiking, snow skiing and especially loved the mountains and winter activities. She raised and trained Arabian horses. She was preceded in death by her parents Nora and John and her brother Ulo. Survivors include her husband Michael (Bones) Smith of Greenwater, WA, brother Rein Laik of Kent, WA, 2 stepsons, 4 grandchildren, 3 nephews, and 2 nieces. A visitation will be held Sun., Dec. 30, 2007 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Weeks' Funeral Home in Buckley. A memorial service will take place Thurs., Jan. 3, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Weeks' Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greenwater Fire Department or the family of Shane Wyrsch, c/o Weeks' Funeral Home, PO Box 130, Buckley, WA.
