Free avalanche awareness classes scheduled at Tacoma store

A Level I avalanche awareness class will be offered at Backpackers Supply beginning with a lecture at 7 p.m. Jan. 10. There will be two other lectures, beginning at 7 p.m. on Jan. 17 and 24. Participants will take a field trip on Jan. 12, 19 or 20. The cost is $185 per person.
