I was heading up ’74 on xc skis recently and encountered a couple of folks from the Forest Service. I asked them about prospects for the road. They said that the Forest Service was looking at 3 options:
1) is to repair the damage along the current roadway and bridge;
2) is to re-route access up USFS-75 and to fix the bridge roughly 7 miles back;
3) is to build a new roadway along the other side of the West Fork of the White River. They added that to pursue this option, the FS would need to buy the land to build the road.
The folks said it would be about another year before any work was done in any event.
