These are reminiscent of the forest lands that is the core of the area’s beauty.
2 cups flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
1 cup shortening (butter flavor Crisco)
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon almond flavoring
Vanilla frosting
Sprinkles
Stir together flour baking powder and salt. Set aside. Beat sugar and shortening with an electric mixer till fluffy. Add remaining ingredients and beat well. Roll cookies out and use a suitable cookie cutter. Place cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 8-10 minutes or until golden. Remove, cool on wire rack.
Once cooled, frost and decorate as desired.
